The bistro is now open all week for dinner and Friday, Saturday and Sunday for lunch
The Bistro will be opening fully at the end of March.
At the Llawnroc we aim to provide you with luxurious surroundings with a relaxed atmosphere. However, we feel we can take this further following your feedback and constructive comments.
We are going to develop a comfortable sitting area just off the bar with squishy couches, warm throws and soft furnishings. This space is to allow for a more relaxed environment where you can enjoy morning coffees, relaxed afternoons and after dinner drinks.
A video you must see!
Courtesy of the clever people at The Cornwall Tourist Board, this short video shows some truly stunning views of our beautiful region. It’s a magical place and we’re very lucky to be a part of it.
Our local supplier of fantastic beef and lamb
We couldn’t think of a better way to kick off The Llawnroc’s kitchen staff inductions than with a team outing to Lobbs Farm; our local supplier of fantastic beef and lamb.
Strolling over the fields to see where the cattle graze, they were lucky enough to see new life as it had arrived that morning.
Lobbs Farm consists of 3 farms owned by 3 brothers. They share 90 south Devon cows and around 200 sheep. Animals are reared onsite and fed with produce from their land. Once ready, they’re sent to abattoir then brought back to the farm where the meat is butchered and sold on site straight to the consumer. You don’t get much more local than that and it’s gotten the team inspired and geared up for our imminent opening!
Got a great recipe for you Shrove Tuesday just wouldn’t be the same without a plentiful supply of freshly made warm pancakes so here is a simple pancake recipe to from our head chef:
Ingredients:
100g Plain White Flour
1 Large Free Range Egg
250g Whole Milk
50g Caster Sugar
10g Melted Cornish Butter
Pinch of salt
How to:
Sift the flour, sugar and salt into a bowl; add the egg and a splash of milk. Whisk to a smooth paste, then add the rest of the milk. Add melted butter and mix.
Heat medium size non-stick frying pan with a drop of vegetable oil, add enough mixture to thinly cover the pan and cook until lightly golden then flip!
Serve immediately with fresh lemon, sugar and my favourite, a drizzle of warm golden syrup. Yum.
Another topping favourite is:
Stewed local orchard fruit and cinnamon with crème fraîche or Cornish clotted cream – naughty but nice!
Enjoy!
Great start to the New Year The Llawnroc has seen a hugely positive start to the New Year with many developments across the site.
Internally, the beautiful ensuite bathrooms have just about been plumbed into their new home. The tiles will be next to add that boutique chic. You’ll see that the fine dining room, in the original part of the building, is being installed with underfloor heating before we instruct our talented design team to go ahead and create a feature of the original fireplace.
We’re still amazed by the light, I know we mentioned that before, but it really is beautiful on a sunny day! See the photograph of the Orangery. And it’ll be even better when those doors are fully opened to the south-facing garden.
Externally, scaffolding is gradually being removed to show a building that we like to think has been sympathetically restored and rejuvenated.
Keep your eyes peeled for our next post, where we’ll share a little inside info with you on two key people at The Llawnroc.
A grand design in the making Due to the early cold snap in December, we had to wait for the ice to thaw on the Orangery roof before dressing it with grass, mirroring the lush green headland seen from the front bedrooms.
Our reception area is awaiting its floor to ceiling glass wall. It’ll be a beautiful, grand entrance that will allow you views right through the heart of the hotel upon arrival.
The bespoke wooden doors detailed with aluminium strips are simply stunning and await installation once the bedrooms are complete.
Finally, our Restaurant is really coming together and offers a suprisingly spacious area. The amount of natural light flooding into the entire building is remarkable, even on a cloudy day.
We’re excited to be discussing plans with our fantastic interior designers – these will be revealed in due course..
